THE STAINLESS STEEL RANGE

Stainless Steel is the name given to a range of alloys that are corrosion resistant, tough and highly versatile, also referred to by its grade numbers of 316, 303 or 304.

We stock a wide range of products including; tubing, pipe, sheet, mesh, bar in round, hexagon, flat and square and angle, all with fast delivery at great prices.

STAINLESS STEEL PROPERTIES AND ITS USES

There are currently over 200 different grades of Stainless Steel alloys available, however, less than 50 of these grades are in regular commercial production.

With a chromium content of around 18%, Stainless Steel offers good corrosion and heat resistant qualities which make it particularly suitable for architectural, engineering, food preparation, petrochemical and pharmaceutical applications.

Our product range is available in a choice of finishes- mill finish, bright or satin polished.

A GUIDE TO STAINLESS STEEL GRADES

Grade 304 is the most widely used grade for general fabrications. 304 combines good corrosion resistance, excellent weldability with good machining and forming properties.

Grade 316 has better corrosion properties than 304 and is normally specified for marine, coastal and more aggressive environments. It is easy to weld but is often considered to be a tougher mater and harder to machine.

Grade 303 is specifically designed to be free machining and easy to drill, tap and cut, however, it is not suitable for welding or bending. 303 is available in round bar and hexagon.
